water Supply Museum

|
Turn on tap, fill glass, drink water - an operation that is for most Europeans automatic.
It hasn't always been so (and still isn't more the majority of the world's population). The Water Supply Museum, just 3km from the centre of Riga, explains how it was all done before the days of washers and plumbing.
The museum itself is in the former Baltezers pump house, and features exhibits made locally and operated by steam or in some cases horse power.
Okay, so it's a very specialist museum, and one that may not feature on the must-see lists for many visitors to Riga. However, its location is on the Tallinn-Riga road, and it is in the middle of glorious lakeside, forested countryside.
