Valmiermuiza Brewery

For a day out from Riga with a difference, head north-east out of the city and follow the A3 to Valmiera, home of the historic Valmiermuiža brewery. They have been making beer here for at least 400 years, and for a long time the brewery was the main supplier for the local nobility. Now you can take a guided tour around the facility, which is still in use. Of course, no brewery tour would be complete without a beer tasting - so remember to designate a driver if you're taking your own car.
