Blondes to Take Over Riga
The Blondes are on the loose again! Blonde and high-heeled beauties, dressed in pink and white will paint the town ‘pink’ this time. They will be many. They will be alluring. And they will be eager to accomplish their mission: to spread joy, happiness and peace throughout Riga.
Launched last year to shake off the depressing chitchat of economic downswing, the Latvian Association of Blondes will bring the sensually sensational weekend to Riga again. Starting on 28th May the city will experience its second edition of the “Go Blonde” Festival and Blonde Parade.
Themed “Some like it hot” the event will feature a Marilyn Monroe acting competition, concerts by blonde divas and finally a pink party. The main attraction, however, will be the Blonde parade, where hundreds of visually benevolent women in pink file will capture the city center.
Against the stereotypical ideas of the blonde, the idea of the festival is far from being dumb: not only did it already turn into one of Latvia’s most long-awaited annual events – it also focuses on charity, raising money for improvements in family life in Riga and other initiatives.
